Russia lifted the ban on Telegram Messenger a popular instant messaging app. Recently a Russian media platform Roskomnadzor released a press note about lifting the ban on Telegram as per the agreement between Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation and Telegram founder.
The agreement is about cooperation to prevent extremest activities.
Russian Federation banned Telegram Messenger app on April 13, 2018 as the Telegram doesn’t co-operate for the investigation to decrypt the suspects conversation of an incident.
Due to non-cooperation from Telegram, Federal Security Service ( FSB ) files a lawsuit against Telegram and FSB wins that lawsuit.
Initially Russian officials fined Telegram but later due to the court order Roskomnadzor banned Telegram in Russia. Even after the ban the Telegram is being popular in Russia.
