Facebook rolled out a tool for transferring media to Google Photos

Facebook rolled out a tool for transferring media to Google Photos. Earlier in 2019 as part of the open-source Data Transfer Project, Facebook rolled out a tool to transfer images and videos from Facebook to Google Photos, but this tool was first made available in Ireland.

Now it was made globally available.

Transferring your Facebook Photos & Videos in 5 easy steps

  • Go to “Your Facebook Information” in your Facebook settings tab.
  • Select “Transfer a Copy of Your Photos or Videos”.
  • Enter your Facebook Password
  • Choose Google Photos from the dropdown.
  • Select “Confirm Transfer”

That’s it. The images and videos from Facebook are now transferred to your Google Photos. It is easy right!.

Facebook rolled out this tool in a stage manner. First rolled out to Ireland on December 2, 2020. Later on February 20, 2020 it was rolled out to countries in Latin America and Asia Pacific. On March 10, 2020 it was made available to countries in European Union, the United Kingdom, Latin America, South East Asia and Africa. On April 30, 2020 this tool availability is expanded to countries in United States and Canada.

On June 4, 2020 in blog post it is mentioned that it was made available globally.
